00;00;04;01 - 00;00;27;08
Chris
Welcome viewers and listeners. I'm your host, Chris Bresee, and welcome to Xywav, the only podcast that integrates the world of A.I. with the future of business, with a dash of hope that Rhode Island can be the leader in this A.I. revolution. This is episode three, and today we have a very special guest for you as Vera Winters, the director of content here at Trailblazer.

00;00;27;15 - 00;00;49;09
Chris
And he's going to dive into which tools that you content creators out there can use to expedite your production. And that gives you more time to do higher quality products. So we're going to talk about what type of tools are out there for podcasts like this one. We actually use tools, tools for our own podcast, and we're going to give you some secrets.

00;00;49;09 - 00;01;09;13
Chris
So stay tuned. We're also going to talk about video and audio. What are some tools that you can use to be able to, with the press of a button, have a ton of output of short clips, transcripts, anything that you can imagine. I mean, the word magic is literally in one of the tools, and I think it's aptly name.

00;01;09;13 - 00;01;27;00
Chris
But first, let's take a look at what's been going on in AI in the past week. So there was a lot that's goes on. And I feel like I can say that every week. It's really a lot to keep up with. That's why you listen to us, so we can always keep you in the loop. One new thing is that Google Bard, right?

00;01;27;01 - 00;01;51;20
Chris
So Google announced recently that their competitor to chat output Google Bar is available to all for free and access the internet. So this was about a week or so ago and this is when chat GPT did not access the internet for everyone. So at the time it was like a good strong week where Google bard was the new thing in chat it was all news.

00;01;52;06 - 00;02;16;17
Chris
But then Openai came along and said, Nice job little Google. That was fun for about a week we just announced a new UI and announced that chat GPT four is available to all with the plus membership and if you don't know, you go in the settings in the bottom left in your account and you can upgrade to pro or plus, which is 20 bucks a month.

00;02;17;02 - 00;02;39;12
Chris
And what that allows you to do is now you can enable you go in the settings, you can enable web browsing and you can enable plug ins and you have access to chat CBT for. So when you go in to chat CBT, you can select enable browsing and now you can get the machine the model to search the web for information.

00;02;39;19 - 00;03;13;12
Chris
So if you remember episodes, the previous ones, when we talked about the limitations with Chat GPT that it's only going to have information up till, you know, October 2021. Not anymore. It's groundbreaking where it could surf the web and provide you with real time information. You can ask it. For instance, hey, what are the e-commerce trends of the first quarter of 2023 or hey, there's this new article in Nature magazine that was just released two weeks ago.

00;03;13;13 - 00;03;44;08
Chris
Please review it, read it, and summarize it for me. The options are limitless, and that's what I always urge you to do, is go and explore, test it out, try it out. Whatever your field is, whatever your passion is, always learn and test it out. And they also are enabling plugins ins So Openai, AI, WeChat, Djibouti have their own app store, so to speak, but it's a plug in store and there's a lot of plug ins out there where it takes Egypt's model and plugs it in to their software.

00;03;44;08 - 00;04;19;09
Chris
So one of the popular ones is Zapier, and Zapier is a connector to a lot of great other softwares out there. So essentially, let's say if your CRM is like Salesforce or HubSpot, you can now through Zapier tap into your CRM, there's a lot of applications out there and like I always say, the options are limitless and it's only up to your imagination and creation to figure out how to best utilize these tools.

00;04;19;09 - 00;04;46;27
Chris
And it's so exciting. So I hope we're you're doing a lot with these AI tools. I know we are here at Trailblazer and we just developed a new tool used in the API for GPT three. So go on, explore and learn more and ride this air wave together. And as we always like to mention in our podcasts here in the Ocean State is why not Rhode Island be the leader in this revolution?

00;04;47;05 - 00;05;16;22
Chris
We were the leader in the American Industrial Revolution. Why not now? I'm actually calling on all state leaders to create a task force to prepare. Now be proactive for this AI wave that's about to hit us all. And it's already impacting many, many jobs. We're seeing it on the news about the jobs that are being lost. Well, how can we mitigate that job loss and how can we upskill our workers and prepare the next generation for the new economy?

00;05;16;23 - 00;05;45;24
Chris
So I'm going to call on our state leaders and already been talking to some of them at the highest levels to say, hey, let's create this task force. Let's put all the brilliant minds together from all different industries, from higher Ed and Rhode Island Department of Education to DLT manufacturing associations. Let's all get together in a room, figure out how can we prepare to not only survive this revolution, but thrive and become a leader in this beautiful ocean state?

00;05;45;24 - 00;06;14;00
Chris
Why not? So stay tuned for more for that. But you're probably here on this podcast to learn about what AI tools you can use to be the ultimate content creator. I got a treat for you and it's Ezra Winters, the brilliant mind behind a lot of our content here at Trailblazer, and we're going to dive into the tools to use the strategies behind it all and how at the end of the day, humans matter.

00;06;14;18 - 00;06;31;06
Chris
So let's hear what Ezra has to say. We're here with our second guest of our podcast series, and it is the one and only Ezra Winters. Ezra, thank you for coming and we appreciate you joining us.

00;06;31;09 - 00;06;32;12
Ezra
Yeah, happy to be here.

00;06;32;26 - 00;06;54;20
Chris
So Ezra is our content director here at Trailblazer Marketing. And when it comes to content creation, there are a lot of tools out there. So what we wanted to do is talk to Ezra, learn about how you could utilize them if you're a content creator, and tell us a little bit more first, Ezra, about what you do here at Trailblazer.

00;06;54;20 - 00;06;57;16
Chris
What's your field of specialty?

00;06;57;16 - 00;07;23;26
Ezra
Yeah, so my fellow specialty is starts with strategy. I spend a lot of time in doing ideation phase and research and then I try to make sure that our team comes up with plans for our clients that we feel will get results based on what they're looking for, whether that be to be clients, looking for leads or D to see clients looking for sales, very sales oriented.

00;07;25;00 - 00;07;30;05
Ezra
My specialty then kind of a subspecialty within that is video production.

00;07;31;13 - 00;08;00;16
Chris
And as just being humble guys, he has many specialties, very talented in terms of strategy, content creation, video production. And you know, when we said we're going all in on AI, we talked to Kyle last week and how it impacted SEO analytics, digital ads. But the other big department that it affected was was content creators. And I mean, we're even using AI tools for this podcast.

00;08;00;16 - 00;08;10;12
Chris
For instance, let's start there. Tell us some of the tools that if anyone wanted to create a podcast or if you're creating a podcast already, what are some of the tools that you could be utilizing?

00;08;11;03 - 00;08;35;28
Ezra
Great. So one of the best tools for podcasting that I've come across is Auto Pod. We are using it for our podcast, lots of other podcasts, we're using it. And so essentially it's a pack of plug ins. It's designed to automate video podcasts, editing stuff, saving editors, significant time. And when we say significant time, we're really talking hours.

00;08;36;17 - 00;09;09;18
Ezra
Anyone who's ever edited an interview before knows that you have to listen to it multiple times. And if the interview itself is an hour and a half, that means that just the listening time and cutting before you're actually doing like audio transitions and, you know, matching levels or any of that, you know, you're you're talking days worth of editing time and now just multi-camera editing can be done honestly within like 20 minutes pretty successfully.

00;09;10;08 - 00;09;25;04
Chris
Wow. I mean, that is a ton of time gained Now one can look at that, I'm assuming, and say, Wow, if I'm a podcast editor, am I going to lose my job? Or, you know, what do we how do we best utilize those extra hours gained?

00;09;26;12 - 00;09;47;02
Ezra
Yeah, not at all. So I would say that autopilot does a huge heavy lift, but it's not perfect, right? So you still have to once it does all the cutting, you still have to go back and go through everything to make sure that people aren't cut off in the middle of the sentence. As people are, that they're flowing properly.

00;09;47;22 - 00;10;10;20
Ezra
And also I'll say that and also be kind of like a running theme of the tools like you have to already know, like how to video edit or how to audio edit to really get the best out of this tool. Because if there is a mistake that you need, you need to learn how to nest the clips beforehand.

00;10;10;20 - 00;10;24;28
Ezra
You need to learn how to know what's the best workflow to even use the tool. Because if you don't know that, then you're you might not get like the best results and you might find yourself very frustrated, very quickly.

00;10;25;23 - 00;10;30;02
Chris
Yeah. So what you're telling me is that I couldn't just use the tool and figure it out myself.

00;10;31;23 - 00;10;56;04
Ezra
You could do something with it, but there are plenty of kind of like small caveats that you need to know to really get the best out of it. And as far as hours spent. So that now it's kind of like if you are very small team and you're just trying to get content out, you probably don't have enough time to do sound design.

00;10;56;04 - 00;11;14;20
Ezra
You don't have enough time to do animation or anything beyond like really basic motion and graphics. But now if you're if you're saving for 5 hours, that really opens up like, you know, so much to what you can do now.

00;11;14;20 - 00;11;32;11
Chris
Yeah, and that's a great point because it's a theme that we have at Trailblazer is that we always say, I will not replace you, it will enhance you and we are AI powered, but we're human elevated. So that ties in to what you just said in two ways. Number one, you need to know what you're doing. You need to have the strategy.

00;11;32;11 - 00;11;50;19
Chris
You need to still edit it afterwards, right? We're human, elevating it, but also it's can enhance what you do and what other, let's say, podcast editors can do is now they save some time, but they can do more with that time so they can create even more quality product, which which is a great message to share out in the world.

00;11;51;10 - 00;12;24;23
Ezra
Absolutely. And I think it's kind of like it goes back to that principle of just knowing how to use the tool. You still have to have really good input like yourself to have really great content and work really hard on making the actual thing that people are there for. It's kind of like, you know, there are tons of marketers that exist that are really good at graphic design or video editing or getting attention, but they don't know how to make a product themselves.

00;12;24;23 - 00;12;33;09
Ezra
They have no product that they make themselves. And that's, you know, why everyone is important in the process.

00;12;33;09 - 00;12;36;12
Chris
So remind us again, what was that first tool called?

00;12;36;27 - 00;12;53;10
Ezra
The first two is called Auto Pod. It's a plug in, I believe, as the time of at the time of this podcast, it's only available for premiere pro users. So not Final Cut, not DaVinci, but I would assume that they'll be on those platforms very, very soon.

00;12;53;27 - 00;13;03;15
Chris
Okay, great. And let's continue with this theme of sharing some tools that can be used for content creators. If we want to stick with podcasting, what are some other tools out there?

00;13;04;05 - 00;13;38;07
Ezra
Another really big tool is cast magic. So this this tool is more designed towards kind of like show notes. That's kind of like the basis of it, but it's so much more this, it's you essentially, you input your audio amp three or a really cool thing is you can upload your podcast, whether it be a video podcast to YouTube and then just copy and paste the link into cast magic and it'll suck the tape in.

00;13;38;07 - 00;14;04;06
Ezra
Then you go and you select the type of assets you want to extract from the tool, and then it automatically provides you things like key features, timestamps, content extraction, bullet points and ready to go, like social content scripts for like reels to promote the podcast itself versus content within the podcast to actually like kind of clip out snippets.

00;14;05;00 - 00;14;18;24
Ezra
It's one of the most versatile tools of its kind that I've been able I've come across and I would say that we tested about 15 tools like this, and this is by far the best one.

00;14;19;12 - 00;14;37;15
Chris
Yeah, we did all the work for you. We tested out all the tools and all you need to know is this is the tool as of now that's been really impactful, which is called Cast magic. That sounds great. So we're saving hours. We're doing more with with what we have, and that's a great tool for for others to use.

00;14;37;15 - 00;14;42;22
Chris
And you said it's not just for podcast or can you also use it if you have like any type of video content?

00;14;43;00 - 00;15;10;03
Ezra
Absolutely. So essentially it works. It uses the obviously the open API. And at first what it does is it takes your video content or really audio content and it transcribes it and then it runs that through to the open API. And you can it has its own props that it runs it through to give you the content itself.

00;15;10;03 - 00;15;35;15
Ezra
But the really cool thing is that they also have a section where you can go in and enter more prompts and you can your own prompts to use for your episodes. And so now if you want to write a blog from your episode, you can enter that as a prompt and it's already uploaded and like the most interesting parts of it have already been decided, so the learning had already started.

00;15;36;08 - 00;16;01;26
Ezra
So it saves you so much time and so many steps and kind of like if you get into like the weeds of the prompting, you know, a lot of podcasts are really long and you can't just copy and paste the transcript into chat because it's far too long. And so this really helps with that and a really cool thing is that it's in multiple languages.

00;16;03;02 - 00;16;19;19
Ezra
So if you're if you're maybe a larger podcast or you're just starting out and you live in a place where there are lots of, you know, speakers of other languages and you want to be accessible, you can you can with this tool.

00;16;20;06 - 00;16;43;10
Chris
Wow, that's great. And I love how it also ties into last week episode when we were talking about the importance of prompting and being a prompt engineer. It's more than just entering in a prompt into chat, but it's also when you're utilizing other tools. That prompting is so important, which is, which is really cool how we can, you know, connect what we're learning in each episode.

00;16;43;10 - 00;16;52;10
Chris
So very cool, very cool tool. And now that's two tools. There's even any other tools that you would use for podcast or, or is that it?

00;16;53;05 - 00;17;27;29
Ezra
There's tons of tools out there that you could use for podcasts. It's, you know, there's obviously some graphic design tools. I'm not an expert in that, so I won't really pitching those, but I will say that a really cool tool that if you do video podcasts or just video content in general, there's a really cool repurposing tool called video that's like it's felt like video, like video that I and this is an extremely powerful tool where that essentially streamlines like creation, editing and publishing of video content.

00;17;28;24 - 00;18;06;25
Ezra
It's a you can do drag and drop visual timelines. I would say that that's kind of for if you don't know how to use Premiere Pro Final Cut DaVinci and you're kind of like mine, like the Cat cut level, then this would also be a great tool just to even edit in. But if you already feel comfortable in adding tools, you know, complete your podcast that way and then you can just drag and drop and upload it to video and it'll repurpose all your content, it'll resize it for, you know, vertical square, horizontal.

00;18;06;25 - 00;18;34;09
Ezra
And then the really cool thing, it's a lot like CAS magic, except CAS magic is all text based video will also take your video and chop out like these are the key moments that they believe they're the key moment and give it to you in multiple sizes for you to download, to review and download. They have so many templates you can even upload a brand kit to it.

00;18;34;20 - 00;18;44;18
Ezra
And so each week really streamline your process. It is honestly just one of the coolest and most powerful tools that I've seen.

00;18;44;29 - 00;18;51;19
Chris
Wow, that sounds amazing. Now. Sounds like the word the app's called video, but is that how it's spelt or is it spelt differently now?

00;18;51;19 - 00;18;55;09
Ezra
It's video. Video that I.

00;18;55;23 - 00;19;22;04
Chris
Via d y. Oh, yeah. So. All right, so video. All right, got it. So I'll have to check out that I tool as well. We've researched dozens of, of AI tools for podcasting and those are the three to know to take your content creation to the next level. So thank you as a for sharing those about podcasting. But like we said, you're a man that wears many hats.

00;19;22;26 - 00;19;42;07
Chris
Multitalented is what we call you here at Trailblazer. So you're more than just podcasting, producing and editing and even more than video. But when it comes to content creation, are there any other tools out there while we're on this topic that you would like to share with our audience?

00;19;42;28 - 00;20;11;01
Ezra
So I think a really big secret that isn't really a secret to us, but we've been dabbling in AI for three years now through like Luminar, Neo, which is like the styling suite and like Topaz. They've been using AI for a number, number of years and they're really like a cutting edge at all times. So like Topaz Labs, the video AI tool is unbelievable.

00;20;11;01 - 00;20;40;03
Ezra
It I think I've seen some videos out there, some really prominent YouTubers that, you know, a little tongue in cheek saying that it's just cheating. It's not fair that people can take can mis focus or take really grainy videos like mess up their ISO and then put it into Topaz Labs and make it perfect and upscale it to eight K, you know, it's really, really powerful.

00;20;40;23 - 00;21;12;02
Ezra
But the caveat being and I would say this, anyone for the video aspect, especially like you kind of have to have a powerful computer to to use Topaz. You know it's really not for your Chromebooks or you know, any any computer that isn't for professional editing. Otherwise, you know, you could be exporting for 23 hours if you're not maintaining a powerful computer.

00;21;13;14 - 00;21;44;06
Ezra
But I would say that it's still worth an investment. It's just unbelievable this these tools, especially one that the Topaz AI photo editor, though, we we use it kind of all the time because sometimes clients, you know, they have this one photo that is perfect but it's from 15 years ago and it's the smallest photo that you've ever seen.

00;21;45;00 - 00;21;59;02
Ezra
And Topaz, I really allows it to be like a new thing. Like it. It sharpens it. It can make it can upscale it to a very usable size. It truly is amazing.

00;21;59;06 - 00;22;01;06
Chris
And it's not going to look all pixelated.

00;22;01;23 - 00;22;07;11
Ezra
No, not at all. No, it'll look better than it did before.

00;22;08;01 - 00;22;10;07
Chris
Wow, that's amazing. I mean, it's like a cheat code.

00;22;11;14 - 00;22;15;13
Ezra
Yeah, it really is. It really is.

00;22;16;14 - 00;22;44;12
Chris
A very cool. So those are some great tools to learn about. And in our notes, we'll we'll include all of these tools for you to learn more about test out and explore. So so thank you for sharing all of that. Ezra What I want to switch gears to now, we talked a lot about the tools, but the tools are only as good as the humans behind it, right?

00;22;44;12 - 00;23;02;11
Chris
So what we call human end points, it's about the beginning and the end about the inputs that you give in editing the outputs. And you mentioned strategy in the beginning. So how does strategy play a role when it comes to utilizing AI tools?

00;23;04;01 - 00;23;32;08
Ezra
That is a great question and I think the role of strategist is going to it's been increasing. There's more creative strategists in the last year than I've seen like jobs that I've seen in the last ten years. That's it's been such kind of like a buzz word that everyone's looking for A.I. tools. You know, I think chat is a really powerful tool for creative strategies.

00;23;32;24 - 00;24;07;17
Ezra
It's really a starting point. There are more tools, especially now that chat up connects to the Internet. We've been really testing out how it can connect to, let's say, review sites because, you know, part of where lots of creative strategy work like starts is reading reviews, reading what people have to say about this product. And, you know, whether it be emphasizing more and the things that people love about the product or responding to the objections that people have about your product, such as like price, price is always a big one.

00;24;07;17 - 00;24;36;05
Ezra
Like why is it so expensive? And then making content from that, you know, it's a really big strategy of, you know, it's so expensive because of these factors and then people really understand. And so being able to expedite that process, especially, you know, there are tons of review sites. A big part of our job at Trailblazer is to look under every stone and we really we pride ourselves in doing that for our clients.

00;24;37;07 - 00;24;48;09
Ezra
And just to be able to do that in a more efficient way, I believe will allow us to really elevate our clients and do much more for them.

00;24;48;25 - 00;25;19;27
Chris
That's a great point because when you look at strategy, a lot of it in the beginning is the intel that we're given in analyzing. So if we can use AI to utilize those tools to get the data, get the research, get all that information from the reviews that will give us the information to make those strategic decisions that you know, I can do or can help with, but still not at the level that as strategist can perform.

00;25;20;25 - 00;25;45;18
Ezra
Now it's really not. There are great tools that exist. Various is a great tool right now. It's really powerful. It's a it's probably a bit expensive for most people. Let's say that the tool that is a funny name for play is a great tool that allows you to save ads and kind of like it's a great search tool.

00;25;45;18 - 00;26;14;23
Ezra
They have an AI element to it. I don't know, like, you know perfectly to be able to say it with confidence, but it's I really I use it every day to review and create briefs, but it's still, I would say is not in a place to to create briefs for people. Yet you can use it as a tool to help expedite the process of creating a brief or creating a strategy.

00;26;14;23 - 00;26;18;23
Ezra
But it certainly is not in a place to do it for anyone.

00;26;19;14 - 00;26;44;28
Chris
Makes sense, I recall. And what about when it comes to video? I know we produce a lot of video for our clients or ourselves, and I'm assuming, you know, with the preproduction production and post-production stages, it could certainly help out on that pre-production. Right. Whether it's helping with storyboards or scripting, I'm assuming those are some of the tactics that I can help out with.

00;26;45;12 - 00;27;14;14
Ezra
And certainly and, you know, Adobe is probably going to be really the leader in this. They're going to be rolling out some unbelievable tools that you'll be able to use in Premiere and After Effects. It is going to really change how you storyboard. It'll change how you how you edit, you know, you'll be doing like there's a script that exist right now, like text based at it, like you'll be able to do that.

00;27;14;14 - 00;27;42;19
Ezra
Also inside of Adobe, I really feel like Adobe jumped on this early and is making like the proper moves and it's kind of a reason why you'll see on YouTube right now so many people leaving Adobe for final cut or they're leaving Adobe for resolve because of like the color issues or they don't crash as much. But I think that most people will be going back to Adobe over the next six months.

00;27;42;29 - 00;28;10;29
Chris
I believe that too. And I know Adobe has been collaborating with Google on on a lot of what they're doing together. And Google obviously had their big conference recently announcing some of the exciting advancements that they have. I think I read something where they used the word AI over 300 times and they're in their conference. So yeah, no, very cool.

00;28;10;29 - 00;28;13;14
Chris
And Adobe is definitely a big one. Well, yeah.

00;28;14;07 - 00;28;45;05
Ezra
They're not perfect yet. It's one of the big tools that's for podcasting and video. You know, sound is extremely important. So the Adobe enhance the kind of enhanced tool that right now if by now it's completely free, you can just take any audio you want, go to the website, upload it and it'll enhance it. But it's not perfect, at least not perfect to like a professional's ears, you know, or a perfectionist.

00;28;46;17 - 00;28;54;13
Ezra
I would not say. I wouldn't say perfectionist. There's just a getting it right for sure.

00;28;54;18 - 00;29;15;12
Chris
Well, a lot of these tools you just saved folks, you know, dozens and dozens of hours and dollars, you know, trying to test out these other tools and also the importance of being, you know, human elevated. Right. Like I tools can help us out, do our jobs, but it's not going to replace what we do. It's going to enhance what we do.

00;29;16;07 - 00;29;23;07
Chris
And that's an important lesson for all of us as we embrace this technology and ride this A.I. wave together.

00;29;24;14 - 00;29;27;19
Ezra
Absolutely. Well said.

00;29;27;19 - 00;29;42;04
Chris
Well, it was always a it's always a pleasure learning and chatting with you as our if you had one message, you know, to give to our audience outside of what you already said, what would it be?

00;29;42;20 - 00;30;10;14
Ezra
My one message would be that don't spend too much time researching the tools per se, understanding that they are important. They're going to be a big love for you. But at the end of the day, your craft is the most important thing. You need to still be committed to whatever craft that is, whether it be design and the many aspects of design or video or audio.

00;30;11;02 - 00;30;19;19
Ezra
Nothing will ever replace the craft of these creative fields, and that will always be the most important part.

00;30;20;19 - 00;30;53;05
Chris
That reminds me, a couple of months ago, Seth Godin was speaking at a conference and he said when the camera was developed, you know, over a hundred years ago, everyone was worried. That's going to replace all the jobs of the painters, because before cameras there was only paintings to kind of replicate what things looked like. And it did replace a lot of jobs, of a lot of mediocre painters, but not that those that worked on their craft that were experts and they transformed, right?

00;30;53;09 - 00;31;12;16
Chris
So then there was the realistic paintings, because they were they didn't have cameras, but then it went abstract. Then you got Van Gogh and you know, when a different, you know, it evolved. And that's what we're all going to be doing in this revolution is evolving, adapting. And like you said, as our focus on your craft.

00;31;13;09 - 00;31;17;03
Ezra
Absolutely. I don't want to live in a world without painters, you know.

00;31;18;19 - 00;31;26;23
Chris
Very two very well said. Well, thank you for hopping on from beautiful Maine. Probably a little cold up there.

00;31;27;16 - 00;31;28;15
Ezra

00;31;28;25 - 00;31;34;28
Chris

00;31;35;23 - 00;31;37;06
Ezra
Absolutely. Thank you for having me.

00;31;37;25 - 00;32;01;25
Chris
All right. Take care. There you have it, folks. All the tools you need to know why strategy matters. And most importantly, why you need to be human, elevated, even if you have all these great AI tools for content creation. That was brilliant. That was exciting stuff. Thank you again. 00;32;01;26 - 00;32;34;00
